A new coalition has been formed to demand that Korean electronics giant Samsung take responsibility for the occupational deaths of its workers in manufacturing plants across the world. The coalition against Samsung has launched a global petition with 3 demands: 1) The Samsung accept responsibility for the hazards of semiconductor manufacturing, 2) That Samsung compensate those harmed; and 3) That Samsung prevent future suffering and mistreatment of workers by making Samsung a toxics-free model workplace where workers are treated with dignity and respect. The petition is supported by groups including: - Supporters for the Health and Rights of People in the Semiconductor industry (SHARPs) - The Korean Metal Workers' Union (KMWU) - And the Asian Network for the Rights Of Occupational Accident Victims (ANROAV) The Asia Pacific Currents radio program in Melbourne, Australia interviewed Dr. Jeong-ok Kong from the Korean Institute for Labour Safety and Health, about the campaign.
